Job Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Press Brake Programmer to join our dynamic manufacturing team. In this role, you will be responsible for programming, setting up, and operating press brake machines to produce precision metal components that meet strict quality standards. Your expertise in CNC programming, blueprint interpretation, and mechanical knowledge will drive efficiency and excellence in our fabrication processes. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work with advanced machinery and contribute to innovative manufacturing solutions in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities
- Develop and optimize CNC programs for press brake machines using CAD/CAM software, ensuring accurate bending and forming of metal parts.
- Interpret technical drawings, schematics, and blueprints, including GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing), to determine proper tooling and setup procedures.
- Set up press brake equipment, including tooling selection and calibration, to ensure precise operation aligned with engineering specifications.
- Operate press brake machinery, including 5-axis CNC machines, ensuring safety protocols are followed at all times.
- Perform precision measurements using calipers, bore gauges, micrometers, coordinate measuring machines (CMM), and other measurement instruments to verify part accuracy.
- Troubleshoot machine issues promptly, adjusting programs or setups as needed to maintain production flow.
- Collaborate with engineering and manufacturing teams to improve processes through lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement initiatives.
Requirements
- Proven experience programming and operating CNC press brake machines, particularly Fanuc controls or similar systems.
- Strong understanding of CAD software such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or CATIA for designing and reviewing parts.
- Knowledge of CNC tooling selection, setup procedures, and machining techniques specific to metal fabrication.
- Ability to interpret mechanical blueprints and schematics accurately; familiarity with GD&T is essential.
- Mechanical aptitude with a solid understanding of machining tools, geometry, electrical discharge machining (EDM), CNC lathe operations, and 5-axis CNC milling machines.
- Experience with CAM software for programming complex bends and forms; proficiency in CNC programming languages is preferred.
- Familiarity with measurement tools like calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, coordinate measuring machines (CMM), and precision measurement instruments for quality control purposes.
- Strong math skills related to machining tolerances and geometric calculations; knowledge of lean manufacturing principles is a plus.
- Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot equipment issues efficiently while maintaining safety standards.
