Responsibilities: Providing employment obtainment and retention supports to adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities, mental illness and/or substance abuse disorders. Employment activities and opportunities support the person’s interests, priorities, desires, and abilities towards the obtainment and retention of employment. Responsibilities with the person include guiding, supporting, teaching, monitoring the pathway of integrated employment success. In addition to the individual support; Vocational Specialists build and maintain professional relationships with community employers to develop opportunities utilizing “traditional,” or “customize / carve out” employment processes. The right candidate will need to have strong interpersonal skills, high energy, be creative, self-motivated, enjoy being “on the move,” knowledgeable of the surrounding communities and have a desire to support people to realize community integrated employment success. Additional responsibilities include carrying out all activities of the program/sub-unit in such a manner that fulfills CMHA-CEI’s mission, policies and procedures. Requirements: Possession of a Bachelor's Degree in Social Work, Psychology, Vocational Rehabilitation, or closely related field required. Possession of an appropriate State of Michigan credential (i.e., LLBSW, LBSW, SSTR) is required or must have applied for and be able to obtain within 60 days of hire. One year of professional work experience with persons with developmental disabilities is required. Ability to communicate accurately and effectively both in writing and verbally required. Possession of a valid Michigan driver’s license and access to reliable transportation for job related use is required. Applicant must be able to manage having a flexible schedule designed around the support needs of Job Seekers. Applicant should expect to adjust work schedule to accommodate intermittent evenings and weekends.
Conditional Employment Requirements: Employment offers for this position will be contingent upon the results of a background verification and credentialing procedure consisting of: Michigan State Police clearance check, verification of a professional license, Medicaid/Medicare verification, verification of an acceptable driving record, educational background check, and verification of an acceptable work history. Must undergo and pass a Central Registry Clearance Check. Must pass a pre-employment 5-panel drug screen.

Salary/Hours: Starting salary $27.12 - $30.37 hourly. 40 hours per week, applicant should expect to adjust work schedule to intermittent evenings and weekends.
