We are seeking a motivated and experienced BCBA Intern / Lead RBT who is currently pursuing BCBA certification and is ready to expand their clinical and leadership experience. This position works closely with the supervising BCBA to support client programming, staff development, clinical documentation, and day-to-day clinic operations while gaining valuable experience toward becoming a BCBA.
Requirements
- Active Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) credential in good standing.
- Currently pursuing a Master’s Degree in Applied Behavior Analysis, Special Education, Psychology, or another BACB-accepted field of study.
- Actively accruing or preparing to accrue supervised fieldwork hours toward BCBA certification.
- Must be on track to meet eligibility requirements to sit for the BCBA Examination.
- Strong understanding of ABA principles, data collection, skill acquisition, and behavior-reduction procedures.
- Ability to provide leadership, coaching, and support to RBT staff.
- Strong written and verbal communication, organization, and time-management skills.
- Experience with CentralReach preferred.
Key Responsibilities
Clinical & Treatment Support
- Assist the supervising BCBA with developing treatment plans, assessments, and reassessments using company-approved templates.
- Draft and update goals, targets, programs, and teaching instructions in CentralReach for BCBA review and approval.
- Assist with skill acquisition, behavioral, preference, and reinforcer assessments under BCBA supervision.
- Review client skill-acquisition and behavior data with the BCBA and assist with identifying areas requiring program updates.
- Maintain organized client data, graphs, assessment materials, and other clinical documentation.
- Assist with gathering and preparing materials for new and existing clients.
- Request additional training or clinical guidance when needed to appropriately support client programming.
Caseload & Authorization Support
- Assist the BCBA with client reevaluations and treatment-plan updates prior to authorization expiration.
- Prepare treatment-plan updates for BCBA review and make revisions as directed.
- Load approved goals, programs, and teaching instructions into CentralReach.
- Communicate new or updated programming to RBTs and assist with training staff on implementation.
- Support the BCBA with ongoing maintenance and organization of the assigned caseload.
Parent & Interdisciplinary Collaboration
- Assist the BCBA with parent communication, progress updates, and parent-training preparation.
- Contact parents regarding therapy updates, health information, clinic needs, or other matters when directed by the BCBA.
- Participate in collaboration meetings with SLP, OT, and other members of the treatment team as requested.
- Assist with communicating clinic activities, training information, and day-to-day client needs to families.
RBT Leadership & Development
- Serve as an accessible resource and positive role model for RBTs.
- Assist the BCBA with RBT training, coaching, and implementation of clinical protocols.
- Collect IOA and treatment/intervention integrity data as assigned and review findings with the BCBA.
- Assist with identifying areas where RBTs may require additional training or support.
- Record and distribute meeting or training minutes when requested.
- Provide direct client and floor support when needed.
- Promote professionalism, teamwork, accountability, and high-quality client care.
Clinic & Operational Support
- Collaborate with the BCBA and clinic leadership to appropriately pair clients with therapists and address scheduling or coverage needs.
- Assist with client pickup and drop-off routines.
- Assist with interviews and candidate observations as requested.
- Plan, coordinate, and facilitate Circle Time, Social Time, and other structured client activities as needed.
- Support clinic operations and provide leadership coverage when appropriate.
- Perform other duties reasonably related to the responsibilities of the BCBA Intern / Lead RBT position.
Professional Development
This position is designed to provide a developing BCBA with opportunities to strengthen skills in assessment, treatment planning, data analysis, staff training, caregiver collaboration, clinical leadership, and other unrestricted ABA activities under the supervision and guidance of a qualified BCBA.
The BCBA Intern / Lead RBT is expected to maintain an established plan toward completing BCBA certification requirements and sitting for the BCBA Examination.
