Pay: Starting at $60 per club (approximately 1 hour). Instructors are paid twice per month (on the 15th and the last day of each month), with opportunities for increased pay based on experience and returning instructors.

Job Description
Southern Art Music Initiative is seeking enthusiastic and dependable instructors to teach our Hands-On Music after-school piano clubs at local elementary schools.
Hands-On Music is a beginner piano program designed for elementary-aged students with no prior musical experience. Our curriculum, lesson materials, and classroom resources are fully provided, allowing instructors to focus on creating a fun, engaging, and supportive learning environment. Every enrolled student receives a free keyboard, carrying bag, method book, and access to online practice resources.
This is an excellent opportunity for music educators, college music students, private lesson teachers, and musicians who enjoy working with children and are looking for flexible part-time teaching opportunities.
Responsibilities
- Teach weekly 60-minute after-school piano classes using our provided curriculum.
- Create a positive and encouraging classroom environment.
- Take attendance and communicate with program staff as needed.
- Update the online parent bulletin board after each lesson with a brief summary of what students learned.
- Arrive on time and professionally represent Southern Art Music Initiative.
- Follow all school and program policies.
Qualifications
- Experience working with elementary-aged children preferred.
- Piano proficiency required.
- Music education background or current enrollment in a music program preferred.
- Excellent communication and classroom management skills.
- Reliable transportation.
- Ability to pass any required school background checks.
Schedule
- Clubs meet once per week immediately after school.
- Most clubs run between 2:45 PM and 5:00 PM, depending on the school.
- Instructors may teach one or multiple clubs based on availability.
- Fall and spring sessions each run approximately 12 weeks.

Preferred Qualifications
- Degree (or current coursework) in Music Education, Music Performance, Piano Pedagogy, or a related field.
- Experience teaching piano or elementary music.
- Experience leading small groups of children.
