Overview
Takumi Japanese Bistro & Bar is a new Japanese restaurant and bar opening at Pentagon City Mall in Arlington, VA. We are looking for friendly, reliable, and customer-focused Servers / Hosts to join our opening team.
This position is ideal for someone who enjoys working in a fast-paced restaurant environment, communicates well with guests, and takes pride in providing warm and professional service. Team members may assist with greeting guests, setting tables, taking orders, serving food and beverages, handling takeout orders, and maintaining a clean dining area.
Estimated total pay is $25–$40 per hour, including hourly pay and tips. Tips may vary depending on shift, business volume, and performance.
Responsibilities
- Greet guests warmly and provide excellent customer service
- Seat guests, provide menus, and answer basic questions about the restaurant
- Take accurate dine-in and takeout orders using the Toast POS system
- Serve food and beverages in a timely and professional manner
- Make menu recommendations and promote specials when appropriate
- Buss tables, clear dishes, reset tables, and keep the dining area clean
- Handle guest payments accurately through the Toast POS system
- Assist with takeout orders, packing, and customer pickup when needed
- Communicate with kitchen and front-of-house team members to ensure smooth service
- Follow food safety, sanitation, and restaurant service standards
- Complete side work before, during, and after shifts
- Support the team during busy lunch, dinner, evening, and weekend shifts
Qualifications
- Previous restaurant, server, host/hostess, or customer service experience is preferred
- Experience with Toast POS is a plus, but training will be provided
- Japanese restaurant, sushi restaurant, or bar experience is a plus
- Friendly, professional, and positive attitude
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to multitask and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
- Must be responsible, punctual, and dependable
- Basic math skills for handling payments and transactions
- Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods of time
- Flexible availability is preferred, including evenings and weekends
