Job Summary:
The Inside Government Sales SME (Subject Matter Expert) Manager serves as the technical and product authority supporting the government sales team. This role translates deep product, mission, and end-user knowledge into winning quotes, proposals, and account strategy; owns product expertise across the product line; trains and supports inside representatives on technical positioning; and partners directly with the Director of Government Sales on complex opportunities, RFPs, and strategic accounts requiring specialized product guidance.

Major Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary product and technical resource for government sales opportunities involving load-bearing equipment, slings, and tactical nylon systems.

Maintain current knowledge of product specifications, use cases, mission-specific applications, and fit for military and law enforcement end users.

Support field-testing feedback loops by communicating product performance insights and end-user feedback to product and engineering teams.

Provide technical input for complex RFQs, RFPs, sole-source justifications, and proposal responses.

Develop accurate, mission-focused product recommendations and configurations aligned with agency requirements.

Support quoting for technically complex, high-value, or specialized government sales opportunities.

Assist with contract vehicle, compliance, and product-related questions requiring technical depth.

Train and mentor inside government sales representatives on product knowledge, technical positioning, and customer-facing sales strategy.

Develop and maintain product battlecards, FAQs, and technical sales tools to support consistent team execution.

Serve as the escalation point for technical customer questions that inside sales representatives cannot resolve directly.

Partner with the Director of Government Sales on account strategy for key and strategic government accounts.

Represent BFG’s technical credibility in agency, dealer, and customer calls, presentations, and demonstrations as needed.

Provide leadership with market insights, competitive product intelligence, and recommendations that support government sales strategy.
Qualifications:
Strong technical understanding of tactical nylon products, load-bearing equipment, slings, and related mission-driven applications.
Ability to translate customer requirements into accurate product recommendations, configurations, quotes, and proposal support.
Demonstrated ability to train, mentor, and support sales representatives on product knowledge and technical positioning.
Strong communication skills with the ability to represent technical credibility in customer, agency, dealer, and internal leadership discussions.
Educational Requirements:
High school diploma or equivalent required; associate or bachelor’s degree in business, sales, operations, criminal justice, or a related field preferred. Equivalent military, law enforcement, tactical industry, or product experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
Previous Experience:
Experience supporting government, military, law enforcement, defense, or tactical equipment sales preferred.
Experience with technical sales support, quoting, RFQs/RFPs, account strategy, product training, or proposal development is strongly preferred.
Hands-on familiarity with end-user missions, tactical equipment applications, or field-use product requirements is preferred.
