Cardiology Associates of Fredericksburg is seeking an experienced and motivated Billing Manager to oversee all aspects of our revenue cycle operations. This position is responsible for managing both our remote billing company and our in-house billing staff, ensuring timely claim submission, meeting billing deadlines, maximizing collections, and supporting efficient day-to-day billing operations.
Responsibilities
- Oversee the daily operations of the billing department, including both the in-office billing team and remote OneMed billing staff.
- Ensure billing deadlines and month-end bill-out goals are consistently met.
- Monitor accounts receivable and analyze A/R aging reports to identify trends and improve collections.
- Open, track, and follow up on support tickets for system or billing errors to ensure timely resolution.
- Provide hands-on assistance with billing workflows during periods of high volume, staffing shortages, or complex account issues.
- Train, mentor, and support billing staff while promoting accountability and continuous improvement.
- Collaborate with providers, clinical staff, front office leadership, and third-party vendors to resolve billing concerns.
- Monitor claim submissions, denials, payment posting, appeals, and payer follow-up.
- Ensure compliance with Medicare, Medicaid, commercial payer guidelines, HIPAA, and regulatory requirements.
- Develop and implement process improvements to maximize reimbursement and operational efficiency.
- Prepare reports and revenue cycle metrics for leadership as needed.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 3 years of medical billing experience, with prior supervisory or management experience preferred.
- Strong understanding of the full revenue cycle, including claims submission, payment posting, denials, appeals, and A/R follow-up.
- Proficient in EMR and practice management systems.
- Experience with eClinicalWorks and clearinghouses strongly preferred.
- Excellent leadership, communication, analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Any outpatient billing experience is highly preferred.
