Pratt High School is seeking a dedicated and passionate individual to lead our softball program as a full-time coach. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of the game, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to fostering a positive and competitive environment for student-athletes. This role involves not only coaching but also mentoring young athletes, promoting teamwork, and ensuring the development of skills both on and off the field.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement a comprehensive training program for the softball team, focusing on skill development, strategy, and physical conditioning.
- Organize and conduct daily practices, ensuring a productive and engaging environment for all players.
- Prepare the team for competitions, including game strategy, player positioning, and in-game adjustments.
- Oversee the recruitment and selection of players, fostering a culture of inclusivity and teamwork.
- Collaborate with school administration and athletic department to schedule games, practices, and events.
- Monitor and promote the academic success of student-athletes, ensuring they maintain eligibility and prioritize their education.
- Provide guidance and mentorship to players, helping them develop leadership skills and a strong work ethic.
- Maintain equipment and facilities, ensuring they are safe and suitable for practice and competition.
- Communicate regularly with parents, guardians, and the community regarding team progress, events, and fundraising efforts.
- Stay updated with the latest coaching techniques, rules, and regulations related to high school softball.
Requirements
- Previous coaching experience at the high school level or higher, preferably in softball.
- Strong knowledge of softball techniques, strategies, and rules.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to motivate and inspire student-athletes to achieve their best.
- First Aid and CPR certification, or willingness to obtain.
- Commitment to the academic and personal development of student-athletes.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, to accommodate practice and game schedules.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- A valid driver’s license and the ability to travel for games and tournaments.
