Job Overview
Unity Presbyterian Church is seeking a Financial Manager who will manage Unity Presbyterian Church’s budget, contributions, cash flow, and payroll and account for them appropriately; monitor the financial health of the church and its auxiliary funds (preschool, endowment, Women of Unity, designated and restricted accounts); balance spending between current mission and long-term goals; coordinate communication of the church’s financial health to appropriate groups; and supervise two administrative staff. This is a salaried, full-time, exempt position and qualifies for full-time benefits as defined in the Unity Employee Handbook. The position reports to the Senior Pastor/Head of Staff and works with the Stewardship Ministry Team, Church Treasurer and other members of the church staff.
Summary of Responsibilities
- Financial Management of income, expenses, cash flow, tax reporting and payroll
- Budgeting - coordinate preparation of the annual budget and stewardship campaign
- Endowment - maintain records and provide reports on the church's endowment funds
- Personnel Management - onboard new employees with required paperwork for payroll and serve as the church's resource for PCUSA Board of Pensions and Retirement Savings Plan
- Communication - provide timely financial statements to various groups in the church, letters to donors for non-cash donations, and endowment contribution acknowledgements
- Administrative - serve as a member of a dynamic and faithful church staff, supervise the Church Administrative Assistant and Receptionist, and evaluate emergency need requests from the community.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or higher in accounting (a CPA is preferred)
- 5 - 7 years of relevant experience
- Experience in a church financial setting is a plus
- Understanding of fund accounting and reporting; appropriate internal control procedures; payroll and not-for-profit tax law
- Detail-oriented and analytical
- Ability to carry out duties with discretion and confidentiality
- Ability to communicate with a variety of people and personalities
- Fluency in Microsoft Office suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.) and financial accounting systems

Pay: $70,000.00 - $78,000.00 per year
