The Tax Technician II will be trained to perform tasks, such as:
- Performing the more complicated tasks assigned and complex technical duties.
- Registering taxpayers for appropriate tax programs.
- Review returns for accuracy and proper reporting.
- Apply laws, rules, and policies relating to the tax and fee programs.
- Assist with special projects as necessary.
The Tax Technician I will be trained to perform tasks, such as:
- Responsible for performing the basic compliance and support functions.
- Applies laws, rules, and policies relating to CDTFA’s tax and fee programs.
- Responsible for account maintenance.
- Accesses taxpayer information.
- Provides assistance with basic routine tax program inquiries.
The incumbent may be eligible to receive additional compensation each month for public contact through the telephone per Pay Differential 186.

Under Government Code 14200, this position may be eligible for partial telework for eligible candidates residing in California. All telework/hybrid schedules require staff to report to the office a minimum number of days per week. Schedules are subject to change.
Currently, per the California Budget Act of 2025, all California Department of Tax and Fee Administration salaries are subject to the provisions of the State of California’s Personal Leave Program.
