Experience, Knowledge and Skill
1. Previous Experience Required:
Electrician with a minimum 2 years experience in electrical maintenance and repair,
should have knowledge of hospital plant and electrical systems and equipment. Electrical licensure is required.
2. Specialized or Technical Education Required:
High School Graduate with completion of Electrician Apprenticeship or equivalent, on-the-job training in electricity and electrical equipment and systems.
3. Manual or Physical Skill Required:
Sufficient mobility required to climb ladders and steps, stoop and bend. For insurance purposes, must be 21 years of age or older for driving North Oaks Health System’s vehicles.
4. Physical Effort Required: Capable of lifting up to 100 lbs.

1. Hazards:
Live electrical parts, environment hazards are resent with mechanical equipment, infectious waste, and chemicals.
2. Adverse Working Conditions:
Work in varied environments, inside and out, subject to long hours and varied shifts during emergencies, training or loss of essential services. May be on call for portion of off shift time.

Work in patient rooms; work with other trades, service technicians from outside companies and other departments.
2. Contacts with Other Departments:
Must be able to communicate with all departments in hospital. Will work in all departments and areas of the hospital.
E. Responsibilities:
1. Responsibility for the safety of others:
Incumbent is responsible for maintaining orderly and safe use of personal and company equipment. Also, incumbent is the use of proper PPE in performance of all work performed.
2. Responsibility for Company Funds or Property
Incumbent is responsible for properly using and maintaining company equipment, also responsible for purchasing necessary parts to repair all equipment.

4. Responsibility for Performance of Work without immediate supervisor:
Much of the work required in this position is done without direct or immediate supervision. The ability to work independently is essential.
5. Responsibility for the Supervision of Others:
No direct supervision is required however the incumbent is often called upon to provide advice and expertise related to others job performance.
Responsibilities:
1. Install, repair and maintenance to Physical Plant, Grounds equipment according to objectives set by the Plant Operations Director.
2. Receive assignments and work orders and perform all work in accordance to steps enumerated in planned maintenance work order or directed by Supervisor.
3. Consult with Supervisor concerning assignments and keep supervisor informed of activities, needs and problems.
4. Perform all electrical circuit/installations.
5. Assure that all circuits are in conformance with State and National Electric Codes.
6. Coordinates activities with other trades to accomplish electrical work in a timely manner.
7. Assure that all circuit control panels are properly marked as to the circuits they control.
8. Inspect and perform safety test on Emergency Generator, Alarm systems and electrical distribution system.
9. Keep work areas orderly, clean and safe, assure proper care in use tools, equipment and supplies.
10. Maintain established hospital and department polices and procedures, objectives, quality assurance, safety, environmental and infection control.
11. Attend meetings and in-services as required.
12. Maintain professional growth and development through education programs, seminars and workshops.

13. Perform other duties as directed.
14. Performs daily inspections on Emergency Generators.
15. Follows North Oaks Health System’s Compliance Programs and Federal and State Regulatory guidelines.
16. Must maintain electrical certification/license. Must provide proof of renewal by January 31 st that license has been applied for until license has been received.
17. Drives North Oaks Health System’s vehicles, so therefore must maintain a current State Driver’s License, while maintaining a good driving record.
