About This Role
We are seeking dependable and caring Substitute Teachers to join our team at Tarrytown Children’s Center, a Christian preschool serving young children and families in Austin. Our program focuses on fostering a nurturing, faith-centered environment where children can learn, grow, and explore through play, creativity, and relationships.
This is an as-needed position ideal for someone with a flexible schedule who enjoys working with young children. Substitutes step in when regular teachers are absent, ensuring a positive, safe, and engaging classroom environment for our preschool students.
We are also currently seeking a long-term substitute for the period of mid-August to the end of September.
This role is not a consistent weekly position but an opportunity to support our school community when coverage is needed. Our school hours are 8:30-2:30pm, Monday through Friday.
What You'll Do

Maintain a safe and positive learning environment for preschool-aged children, engaging them in the classroom and playground.

Collaborate with the lead teacher to implement lesson plans and daily classroom routines, ensuring a smooth and structured experience for the children.

Support children during daily activities such as play, snacks, and transitions, fostering a sense of security and belonging.

Communicate effectively with staff to ensure a cohesive and supportive classroom environment.

Step in when needed to assist with classroom tasks and maintain the overall well-being of the children.
Requirements

Must be able to speak, read, and write English.

Prior childcare, preschool, or teaching experience preferred but not required.

Enjoy working with young children and have a caring and dependable nature.

Able to lift 30 pounds and pass a full background check.

High school diploma or equivalent (CDA or Early Childhood Education credits preferred).

Infant/child CPR and First Aid certification.

Reliable, responsible, and punctual.

Friendly, patient, and supportive with children.

Able to legally work in the United States of America.
