Duties
- Coordinate daily dispatching activities for freight movement using transportation management systems such as Oracle Transportation Management and SyteLine.
- Communicate effectively with drivers, carriers, and internal teams via multi-line phone systems, ensuring clear and professional phone etiquette.
- Schedule pickups and deliveries by leveraging GPS technology, GIS data, and transportation planning tools to optimize routes and improve efficiency.
- Enter data accurately into systems like AS400 and 3PL platforms, maintaining precise shipping & receiving records.
- Monitor fleet management operations, including vehicle status updates, maintenance scheduling, and compliance with safety standards.
- Assist with shipping & receiving processes, including documentation, freight tracking, and coordination with warehouse teams.
- Analyze logistics data to identify opportunities for process improvements in supply chain operations and transportation planning.
Experience
- Proven experience in dispatching or customer service within a logistics or transportation environment preferred.
- Familiarity with transportation management systems such as Oracle Transportation Management or SyteLine is highly desirable.
- Strong analysis skills with the ability to interpret GIS, GPS data, and other logistical information to make informed decisions.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to handle multi-line phone systems professionally while demonstrating strong phone etiquette.
- Knowledge of freight operations, shipping & receiving procedures, fleet management practices, and 3PL (third-party logistics) services.
- Technical proficiency in data entry using platforms like AS400 or similar enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems.
- Ability to adapt quickly to new technologies such as GPS tracking tools, transportation planning software, and logistics analysis tools.
