Field Service Officer
We are on a mission to promote the welfare of animals and to improve the lives of animals both in the shelter and throughout our community.
How does a Field Service Officer help achieve this mission?
- Our Field Service Officers are responsible for upholding Maryland State Laws and the Washington County statutes in regard to animal welfare
- Capturing and impounding dangerous or stray animals
- Investigating cases of animal cruelty
- Providing expert testimony in court
- Rescuing trapped animals
- Writing incident reports
- Educating the public on the humane treatment of animals
What qualifications does a candidate for Field Service Officer need to be considered?
- You must be 18 yrs. old to apply
- You must have a valid driver's license and a clean criminal background check.
- Must have excellent oral and written communication skills.
Four other important facts to know:
- Normal schedule will coincide with, but may vary within, the HSWC normal business hours, based on departmental needs.
- Must be able to work a rotating on call schedule.
- Must reside within 30 miles of HSWC, 13011 Maugansville Rd Hagerstown, MD 21740, for on call response time
