Vikta Energy is seeking an experienced Estimator / Designer to support our rapidly growing portfolio of commercial roofing, solar, battery energy storage (BESS), and EV charging infrastructure projects. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working on complex projects, collaborating with operations and sales teams, and contributing to both the estimating and preconstruction design process.
The ideal candidate can confidently develop project estimates while also supporting preliminary system layouts, conceptual designs, and preconstruction planning efforts for commercial energy and infrastructure projects.
What You'll DoEstimating Responsibilities
Prepare detailed cost estimates and bid packages for:
- Commercial roofing systems (TPO, EPDM, PVC, Modified Bitumen, Metal Roofing)
- Commercial solar PV projects
- Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS)
- EV charging infrastructure, including DC Fast Charging and Tesla Supercharger projects
- Perform quantity takeoffs from drawings and specifications
- Review construction documents, site plans, and project requirements
- Solicit and evaluate subcontractor and vendor pricing
- Develop scopes, clarifications, and proposal packages
- Participate in site walks, pre-bid meetings, and client discussions
- Support project handoff to operations after award
- Maintain estimating databases and historical cost information
Design & Preconstruction Responsibilities
- Support the development of preliminary solar, BESS, EV charging, and roofing system designs
- Create conceptual layouts and site plans to support budgeting, proposals, and project development
- Assist with equipment selection, system sizing, constructability reviews, and value engineering efforts
- Support the preparation of plan sets, permit packages, and design documentation
- Coordinate closely with internal engineering, operations, and business development teams throughout the preconstruction process
- Help balance estimating and design workload to support a growing preconstruction department
What We're Looking ForRequired
- 5+ years of construction estimating experience
- 3+ years estimating commercial roofing projects
- Strong understanding of commercial construction drawings and specifications
- Experience with Bluebeam, PlanSwift, Procore Estimating, or similar software
- Excellent organizational and communication skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and related tools
Highly Preferred
- Commercial solar estimating experience
- Experience designing commercial solar, BESS, or EV charging infrastructure projects
- Experience with AutoCAD, Helioscope, Aurora, PVsyst, Civil 3D, or similar design software
- BESS or utility-scale energy project experience
- EV charging infrastructure or Tesla Supercharger experience
- Knowledge of NEC requirements and utility interconnection processes
- Experience working for an EPC, electrical contractor, commercial roofing contractor, or renewable energy company
- Ability to perform both estimating and preconstruction design functions in a fast-paced environment
