Director of Project Management
Position Summary
The Director of Project Management is responsible for leading and developing Holmberg's team of Project Managers and Project Engineers while ensuring the successful execution of projects. This role provides strategic oversight, mentorship, resource planning, and operational leadership to drive project consistency, profitability, customer satisfaction, and team performance. The Director serves as a key liaison between Project Managers, Operations, Sales, Engineering, and Executive Leadership.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of Project Managers and Project Engineers.
- Establish clear expectations, accountability, and performance metrics.
- Support recruitment and retention of project management staff.
- Conduct performance reviews, coaching, and career development planning.
- Foster a culture of collaboration, ownership, and continuous improvement.
- Provide oversight and guidance on active projects to ensure successful delivery.
- Assist Project Managers in resolving complex project challenges and escalated issues.
- Monitor project health and intervene when projects require additional leadership support.
- Oversee project manager workloads and resource allocation.
- Collaborate with department leaders to balance project demands and staffing needs.
- Identify staffing gaps and recommend solutions.
- Participate in executive-level client meetings when necessary.
- Assist with conflict resolution and issue escalation.
- Ensure a high level of customer satisfaction throughout the project lifecycle.
- Evaluate and improve current project management processes, tools, and reporting.
- Track project performance metrics and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Promote consistency and efficiency across the project management function.
- Review project financial performance with Project Managers
- Monitor project budgets, forecasts, and profitability.
- Drive accountability for project financial outcomes.
- Partner with Sales, Engineering, Operations, Procurement, and Executive Leadership.
- Ensure smooth handoffs from sales to project execution.
- Facilitate communication across departments to remove obstacles and improve project delivery.
- Support strategic initiatives that enhance organizational performance.
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Construction Management, Engineering, or related field.
- 8–15 years of project management experience with increasing leadership responsibility.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and conflict-resolution skills.
- Proven experience managing and developing Project Managers.
- Strong understanding of project planning, budgeting, scheduling, and client management.
Experience in a consulting, engineering, construction, manufacturing, or technical services environment preferred
Pay: $180,000.00 - $250,000.00 per year
