Overview
Responsible for receiving, inspecting, grading, and classifying all clothing donations. The primary aim is to ensure items are processed swiftly for sale, distribution, or recycling. Every piece of clothing must be thoroughly examined.
Qualifications
- Precision in pricing and tagging is crucial to maintain price accuracy and consistency.
- Excellent verbal communication skills for collaborating with team members and potentially interacting with customers or suppliers.
- Prior experience in retail, customer service, or a similar industry is often preferred.
- Strong knowledge of current and emerging fashion trends, brands, and product value is often required, especially in consignment or high-end retail.
- The ability to multitask and manage time effectively in a fast-paced environment with deadlines for price changes or promotions.
- The ability to analyze sales data, market trends, and costs to make informed pricing decisions.
- Must complete a criminal background check
Job Responsibilities:
- The ability to quickly and accurately discern good-quality clothing from damaged items is crucial.
- The role typically requires standing for long periods, bending, reaching, and lifting moderate weights (up to 40-50 lbs).
- Train and oversee the work therapy for a smooth workflow.
- Dependability and commitment to scheduled shifts are essential.
- Familiarity with different types of clothing, brand names, and current fashion trends is imperative.
- Opening and processing incoming bags, boxes, or containers of clothing/donations.
- Examining ALL clothing items for quality, cleanliness, defects (stains, rips, tears, odors), and general condition.
- Placing items that do not meet quality expectations into designated bins for recycling or discarding unusable pieces.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
- Tracking inventory levels, moving items to proper locations, and communicating with the supervisors about stock.
- Track and report production goals.
- Identify and set aside high-value, vintage, or specialty items for further review or online sale.
- Train and oversee work therapy residents who are assigned to sort clothing.
