Position Overview
We are seeking skilled and reliable Machine Operators to join our growing production team. This universal posting covers three core operator roles: Slitter Operator, Lamination Operator, and Pouch Machine Operator. Machine Operators are responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining production equipment to ensure the efficient manufacturing of high-quality flexible packaging materials.
Operators must follow safety, quality, and GMP/SQF standards while maintaining accuracy, efficiency, and attention to detail in a fast-paced environment.
This position is for one of the following shifts:
Day shift - 7am-3:30pm, Monday -Thursday
3rd Shift - 3:30pm to 2am , Monday - Thursday
Key Responsibilities (All Machine Operators) Machine Operation & Setup
- Set up and operate production equipment according to job specifications (slitter, laminator, or pouch machine depending on assignment).
- Perform machine adjustments, calibrations, and changeovers.
- Load and handle raw materials (film rolls, substrates, adhesives, etc.).
Quality Control
- Inspect materials/products for correct dimensions, seal integrity, alignment, and overall quality.
- Monitor output throughout runs to ensure all product meets internal and customer standards.
- Complete necessary QA checks and documentation.
Maintenance & Troubleshooting
- Perform routine machine cleaning and basic preventative maintenance.
- Troubleshoot minor mechanical or process issues.
- Escalate major mechanical issues when needed.
Material Handling & Documentation
- Track and record production data, downtime, waste, and material usage.
- Return unused materials to inventory and maintain organized work areas.
- Use barcode or inventory systems when applicable.
Safety & Compliance
- Follow all safety protocols, GMPs, SOPs, and SQF guidelines.
- Maintain 5S and housekeeping standards.
- Participate in safety programs and compliance training.
Continuous Improvement
- Support efficiency, quality, and cost-reduction initiatives.
- Identify opportunities to improve workflow or machine performance.
Specialized Duties (Based on Machine Assignment) Slitter Operator
- Convert large rolls into specific widths using slitting equipment.
- Ensure precise cutting and edge quality.
- Manage roll changes, tension, and blade settings.
Lamination Operator
- Operate Nordmeccanica solventless laminators.
- Prepare adhesives and monitor lamination bond quality.
- Oversee web handling and lamination parameters.
Pouch Machine Operator
- Operate Totani pouch machines to produce finished pouches.
- Inspect seal integrity, pouch dimensions, and print registration.
- Maintain pouch-specific QA documentation and traceability.
Skills & Qualifications
- 1–3 years of experience operating manufacturing machinery
- Ability to read and interpret job specs, measurements, and production documentation.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting ability.
- Basic computer/data entry skills.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods.
- Experience in flexible packaging or food-grade manufacturing preferred.
- Forklift certification a plus (or willingness to obtain).
- Strong attention to detail, organization, and time management.
- Positive, team-oriented attitude and ability to work under deadlines.
