Job Description:
Quality Service Inc. (QSI) is a privately-owned company specializing in water, wastewater, and environmental compliance services throughout California's Central Valley and surrounding regions. We are seeking a highly organized, detail-oriented Environmental Technician / Compliance Coordinator to support our Technical and Compliance Department.
This position combines technical environmental compliance responsibilities with project coordination, schedule oversight, deadline tracking, and administrative support. The successful candidate will work closely with management, operators, regulatory agencies, vendors, and clients to ensure projects, reports, permits, inspections, and compliance requirements are completed accurately and on time.
This role offers a combination of office and field work and is ideal for an individual who thrives in a fast-paced environment, enjoys problem solving, and possesses strong organizational and communication skills.
Desirable Licenses or Certificates:
- Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Biology, Chemistry, Public Health, Natural Resources, or a related field preferred.
- Equivalent education and relevant experience may be considered.
Required Education and Preferred Experience Guidelines:
- High School Diploma or GED
- Three (3) years Experience in water treatment, wastewater treatment, environmental compliance, public utilities, engineering or related industries preferred.
- Experience coordinating projects, schedules, or compliance programs is highly desirable.

Job Duties (Include but Are Not Limited to the Following):
Environmental Compliance & Technical Support
- Collect, organize, and maintain environmental, operational, and compliance-related data.
- Assist with monitoring water and wastewater systems to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
- Review analytical results and operational reports for accuracy and completeness.
- Assist in preparing technical reports, permit applications, compliance documents, and regulatory submissions.
- Maintain organized electronic and physical records related to compliance activities.
- Coordinate laboratory sampling schedules and maintain sample tracking records.
- Communicate with regulatory agencies, laboratories, vendors, and clients regarding operations and compliance matters.
- Assist with site inspections, field investigations, and data collection as needed.
- Support project development, implementation, and regulatory compliance initiatives.
Project Coordination & Deadline Management
· Monitor project timelines and track critical compliance deadlines.
· Maintain department calendars, project schedules, reporting deadlines, and inspection requirements
· Coordinate workflow between field staff, office staff, management, subcontractors, laboratories, and regulatory agencies.
· Track project progress and proactively identify upcoming deadlines, potential delays, or missing information.
· Ensure required reports, permits, certifications, and compliance documents are completed and submitted on schedule.
· Assist management with prioritization of projects and workload distribution.
Department Scheduling & Team Oversight Support
- Maintain and oversee department work schedules and project assignments.
- Track staff workloads, project milestones, and deliverable due dates.
- Coordinate scheduling of meetings, inspections, trainings, and project activities.
- Follow up with team members regarding pending tasks, deliverables, and deadlines.
- Provide regular status updates to management regarding project progress and outstanding items.
- Help ensure accountability and continuity of ongoing projects through effective task tracking and communication.
Administrative & Organizational Responsibilities
- Maintain databases, spreadsheets, project management systems, and internal tracking tools.
- Generate reports and summaries for operations and compliance projects
- Organize project files and ensure documentation is maintained according to company standards.
- Assist with client communications and respond to requests for information.
- Support continuous improvement efforts related to department processes and workflows.

This position involves a combination of office and field work. Field activities may include visits to water and wastewater facilities, treatment plants, pump stations and related infrastructure.
