Do you enjoy working outdoors, operating specialized equipment, and helping maintain beautiful parks, athletic fields, and public spaces? The City of Plano is looking for a dedicated Chemical Application Technician I or II to join our Parks and Recreation team!
In this hands-on role, you’ll help protect and maintain City landscapes, parks, athletic sites, medians, and public facilities through safe and effective chemical application practices. If you have an eye for detail, a strong commitment to safety, and take pride in keeping outdoor spaces healthy and thriving, we want to hear from you.
What You’ll Do

Apply herbicides, fertilizers, and pesticides using specialized application equipment

Assist in maintaining healthy parks, athletic fields, rights-of-way, and landscaped areas throughout the City

Calibrate and maintain advanced application equipment

Follow all State and Federal safety regulations for chemical handling and application

Maintain accurate application and inventory records required by law

Support additional grounds maintenance projects as needed

Utilize asset management systems to document work activities
What We’re Looking For

Knowledge of pest identification and effective control methods

Understanding of pesticide application techniques, mixtures, and calibration

Commitment to workplace and public safety

Ability to read and follow product labels and Safety Data Sheets (SDS)

Strong attention to detail and recordkeeping skills
