Grades 1 & 2 Class Teacher and Homestudy Manager (Hybrid position)
La Vida Charter School is hiring a teacher for a Grades 1 & 2 combo class of 12 students. Candidates should enjoy doing a variety of things and be comfortable with wearing many hats. This position comprises of three main areas. The first is teaching a holistic, mixed grades class two days per week; plus teaching a specialty class; and thirdly organizing assignments and meeting with students and parents to manage their home study programs.
Desirable candidates will bring love and excitement about their work as well as bring excellent organizational skills, personal accountability standards, possess digital literacy and abilities to engage and motivate students, collaborate with colleagues and parents. Applicants should have a living and working knowledge of the educational philosophies of Rudolf Steiner as well as being comfortable in public school environs and the State Standards.
La Vida Charter School offers a unique program of independent study supported by a child centered, culturally rich; strengths based on-site classes two days per week. Founded in 2001, WASC accredited, serving grades K through 12, with a maximum enrollment of 100, La Vida functions as a small school alternative for residents of
Mendocino County and surrounding areas. The school is located on the beautiful and historic, 5000 acre, Ridgewood Ranch, Home of Seabiscuit, between Willits and Ukiah on Hwy 101.
Qualifications:
- Minimum requirements are a California Multiple Subject or Single Subject Teaching Credential. (Intern level are welcome)
- Experience in independent study and/or
- Waldorf Training is preferred.
- Special Areas of Expertise the school is looking for include strengths in:
English Language Arts, Science, Spanish Speaking, Waldorf Training,Nature Loving, Art, and Special EdSkills: Demonstrated success in creating a differentiated instructional program.
- Willingness to further professional development in Waldorf Education and other educational techniques.
- Ability to collaborate with colleagues.
- Able to work at home.
- Possess strong personal accountability standards.
- Ability to take direction and promote philosophies of the school.

The year starts with a full faculty in-service the week of Aug 15.
Special training on the school’s computer programs occur the previous week of Aug. 8 for a few hours. First day of school is August 29.
Pay: $33.00 - $42.00 per hour
