PTX is seeking an experienced Transportation Operations Manager to lead and grow our transportation division based in Plymouth, Wisconsin.
This is not a dispatcher role. This is a leadership position responsible for overseeing approximately 40 company drivers, 10 owner-operators, fleet operations, transportation profitability, customer relationships, safety compliance, and business growth.
The ideal candidate brings transportation leadership experience, strong business acumen, and the ability to build relationships with drivers, customers, and carriers while driving operational excellence.
What You'll Do
- Lead daily transportation operations across the PTX fleet
- Manage approximately 40 company drivers and 10 owner-operators
- Develop strong relationships with drivers, customers, carriers, and freight partners
- Oversee fleet maintenance planning and equipment utilization
- Negotiate freight rates and manage transportation costs
- Monitor delivery performance and customer satisfaction
- Resolve shipment issues, delays, claims, and service concerns
- Manage transportation budgets and financial performance
- Analyze operational metrics and identify improvement opportunities
- Develop fleet replacement and capital expenditure plans
- Ensure DOT compliance and transportation safety standards
- Collaborate with warehouse, shipping, customer service, and leadership teams
- Identify and pursue new business opportunities to support division growth
What We're Looking For
- 5+ years of transportation, logistics, freight, or fleet management experience
- Leadership experience managing drivers and transportation personnel
- Experience with LTL, FTL, and transportation operations
- Strong understanding of DOT regulations and transportation compliance
- Proven ability to manage customer and carrier relationships
- Financial management and operational budgeting experience
- Experience recruiting and retaining drivers and owner-operators
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills
- Excellent communication and leadership abilities
- Experience with transportation management systems preferred
- Microsoft Excel proficiency preferred
