Calling all plant-loving baristas! Creature’s is looking for a highly skilled, detail-oriented barista to join our coffee shop team. This role is ideal for someone who takes pride in their work and is interested in growing into additional responsibilities over time. Strong teamwork, excellent customer communication, and consistency in maintaining shop standards are essential. A minimum of 2-3 years experience in third-wave coffee shops is required.
Qualifications:
- At least 2-3 years experience in 3rd wave coffee
- Fully bar trained and skilled at shot pulling, latte art, dialing in, etc.
- A passion for craft coffee (and an interest in plants helps!)
- Personable with an interest in getting to know our customers
- Excellent organization and ability to manage multiple priorities independently
- Comfortable in a fast-paced environment / dealing with high volume orders
- Ability to walk, bend, and stand for extended periods
- CFH card preferred
- Availability to work weekends
- Takes ownership of their work and proactively addresses issues without being directed
- Looking to grow with a new business and develop additional skills and responsibilities

Salary/Schedule:
- Pay rate is $18.42/hr, tips average about $11/hr
- Part-time position available; opening shift start at 7am, closing shift ends at 5:45pm on weekdays and 6:45pm on weekends
- Hours variable: about 25 hours a week typically
Responsibilities:
- Customer relations – greeting customers, getting to know regulars, maintaining positive attitude, tactfully handling issues, and deescalating problems
- Order preparation – taking customer orders and preparing them correctly (to shop standard, efficiently, per drink recipe standards), clarifying details of orders with customers, accounting for dietary restrictions or preferences
- Menu proficiency – learning all shop recipes, ability to communicate with customers about coffee and ingredients, answering questions confidently
- Shop maintenance – adhering to opening and closing procedures, keeping behind-the-bar organized, well-stocked, and clean throughout the day; proactively addressing areas that need attention
- Equipment knowledge – general knowledge of all equipment used behind the bar, checking equipment daily, reporting maintenance needs
- Health compliance – comply with all health and safety regulations, ask or check if unsure, CFH card holder, or willingness to complete online training to obtain one within 30 days of hire
- Team communication – work respectfully and efficiently with team members, support peers, and provide guidance when needed
- Ownership & initiative – take responsibility for completing all assigned tasks each shift and identify additional tasks to maintain operational standards, cleanliness, and organization
