JOB SUMMARY:
The Mapping Technician I performs comprehensive research and analysis of deed documentation of property. Responsibilities include initiating and completing boundary alterations, verify documentation of property and property transfers.
Office hours: 8:00am - 4:30pm
Monday - Friday
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Review, research, and analyze property deeds recorded in the McHenry County Recorder’s Office for accuracy. Correct data as necessary. Verify accuracy of information in property tax assessment program.
- Combine and divide parcels. Utilize deeds/documents to draw new parcels on map.
- Calculate acreage, soil types and productivity of farm parcels.
- Assign property identification numbers as required and enter into the tax assessment program.
- Work with attorneys, title companies and surveyors to correct recorded deeds with errors.
- Operate office equipment such as fax machines, copiers, phone systems, and use computers for spreadsheet, word processing, database management, and other applications.
- Interact with staff, elected officials, and the public in person, by telephone, and by email to respond to inquiries, receive complaints, and resolve problems.
- Provide a variety of clerical and administrative support functions for the department.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED: Education:
- High school diploma or GED
Experience:
- Six months or more of clerical experience in an office environment.
- Local government principles and practices is desired.
Licenses and Certifications:
- Certified Illinois Assessing Official
