JOB DESCRIPTION
HOUSEKEEPER
Reports to:
Housekeeping Supervisor, Assistant General Manager, General Manager
BASIC PURPOSE: Clean and supply all daily assigned rooms and reports all damage, mechanical deficiencies, suspicious activities or theft in accordance with all housekeeping procedures and standards and safety and security rules and regulations to ensure guest satisfaction.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
· Clean guestrooms, stocking with appropriate supplies in the prescribed manner while following safety and security procedures and regulations including but not limited to; Picking up trash, changing linen and making the bed, cleaning the entire bathroom, sweeping and dusting the guestroom cleaning the windows and balcony areas (80%).
· Retrieve, stock, restock and store the housekeeping cart according to prescribed housekeeping, safety and security procedures and regulations (5%).
· Laundry and trash removal from the room, transport to laundry/dumpster, etc. (15%).
NON-ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
· Maintains all housekeeping storage areas in an orderly and clean condition.
· Inspects all public areas and guestrooms for cleanliness or obvious guest impact issues.
· Performs special projects and other responsibilities as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
EDUCATION: High school diploma, technical/vocational school preferred.
EXPERIENCE: Hotel experience preferred but not required.
SKILLS AND ABILIITIES: General knowledge of cleaning and laundry procedures. Requires good communication skills, a professional presentation and an ability to work on a team, in a team atmosphere and make some independent decisions. Requires the ability to use basic equipment and tools.
HOURS: Variable Days and times may vary based upon need. Typically, day hours and likely includes all weekends and holidays regularly.
LIFTING/PUSHING/PULLING/CARRYING: Lifting up to 50 pounds, pushing up to 200 pounds.
BENDING OR KNEELING: Bending or kneeling as associated different projects or work throughout the hotel.
MOBILITY: Walking, climbing, use of stairs, ladders, lifts, etc. on all floors of the hotel, at varying heights and distances.
CONTINUOUS STANDING: Varies with the projects being worked upon.
DRIVING: None unless needed to procure supplies, equipment, etc. generally within 20 miles of the hotel.
HEARING: Critical. Use of tools, working on systems, alarms, etc.
VISION: Critical. Visually check the premises, equipment, rooms, etc.
SPEECH: Critical. One-on-One conversation and communication with guests and staff.
LITERACY: Critical. Ability to read and comprehend work orders, diagrams, labels, etc.
CHEMICALS: General commercial cleaning and laundry chemicals.
EQUIPMENT OPERATION: Ability to operate a range of equipment from vacuums, brooms, sprayers, etc.
