Job Summary
French Memories Bakery is looking for a dependable, hardworking individual to join our team as a Dishwasher/Food Prep. This role is focused on maintaining an efficient work environment by cleaning bakery equipment, prepping deli ingredients, and supporting general cleanliness in the facility. Responsibilities
- Wash sheet pans, utensils, cookware, and kitchen equipment promptly to ensure cleanliness and availability for food preparation and service
- Assist with basic food preparation tasks such as slicing, chopping, and portioning ingredients following established recipes and safety standards
- Maintain cleanliness of workstations, floors, employee bathroom, and storage areas in accordance with health regulations
- Operate kitchen equipment safely and efficiently, including dishwashers, slicers, and other small appliances
- Follow proper food handling procedures to ensure safety and prevent cross-contamination
- Assist front-of-house operations as needed, supporting service during peak hours, and maintaining a clean and organized customer-facing environment
- Collaborate with kitchen staff to uphold high standards of hygiene, safety, and food quality throughout all shifts
Skills
- Ability to operate various kitchen equipment safely and effectively
- Familiarity with menu planning, recipe adherence, and meal preparation techniques
- Excellent communication skills to coordinate smoothly with kitchen staff
- Basic culinary experience including knife skills and slicing techniques
- Prior restaurant or food industry experience is advantageous
- Knowledge of catering processes and food handling regulations
Experience
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Ability to follow instructions and work both independently and as part of a team
- Strong attention to cleanliness and safety
- Previous experience using commercial kitchen equipment (preferred but not required)
- Willingness to learn and adapt in a fast-paced environment
- Able to follow checklists and/or procedures
- Reliable, punctual, and attentive to detail
Physical Demands and Work Environment
- Ability to stand, walk, and move for extended periods during the shift
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Regular use of hands to handle, wash, and move baking equipment
- Ability to bend, reach, and carry cleaning supplies and materials
- Work may involve exposure to warm or humid conditions in the kitchen
