Requirements:
- At Least 12 units in Early Childhood Education
- Valid California Child Development Permit (Teacher level or higher) preferred
- Prior experience working with preschool or early childhood-aged children
- Strong knowledge of early childhood development principles and best practices
- Current CPR and First Aid certification, or willingness to obtain
- Warm, patient, and nurturing demeanor with a genuine passion for teaching
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with children, parents, and staff
Duties
- Develop and implement dynamic curriculum plans tailored to preschool-aged children that incorporate literacy education, math skills, physical activity, and social-emotional learning.
- Foster a positive classroom atmosphere by applying behavior management strategies and classroom management techniques to promote respectful interactions and engagement.
- Conduct child development instruction that supports cognitive, motor, language, and social skills through age-appropriate activities and play-based learning.
- Provide toddler care and early intervention strategies for children with special needs or developmental delays, ensuring inclusive education practices are followed.
- Communicate regularly with parents and guardians to share progress updates, address concerns, and collaborate on individual learning goals.
- Maintain compliance with mandated reporting laws by accurately documenting incidents or concerns related to child welfare or safety.
- Ensure all classroom activities adhere to health and safety standards by maintaining first aid and CPR certifications and following childcare regulations.
Experience
- Prior teaching experience with young children in preschool or daycare settings is essential; experience working with children with special needs or in early intervention programs is highly valued.
- Demonstrated expertise in curriculum development, lesson planning, and implementing literacy education as well as standardized testing for early learners.
- Proven ability to manage classrooms effectively using classroom management techniques that foster positive behavior and active participation.
- Strong communication skills for engaging with children, parents, colleagues, and community partners effectively.
- Knowledge of childhood development principles, early childhood education best practices, and child welfare standards.
- Experience teaching physical education or tutoring young children to support holistic development is a plus.
- Certification in first aid and CPR is required; familiarity with mandated reporting laws ensures safety compliance at all times.
