We are seeking a compassionate, reliable, and respectful Direct Care Worker to provide personalized, in-home support to a military veteran living in Missouri. This position is funded through the VA's Veteran-Directed Care Program. The ideal candidate has exceptional situational awareness—someone who actively scans a room, anticipates a client's needs, and confidently steps in to solve problems before being asked. Key Responsibilities:
- Daily Living Assistance: Help with bathing, grooming, dressing, and toileting/incontinent care.
- Mobility Support: Assist with any movement: transfers, repositioning, and navigating with wheelchairs or medial transfer system.
- Feeding: Manually put food / drinks to the client's mouth in order for them to eat/drink.
- Housekeeping: Perform light cleaning, laundry, dishes, and maintain a tidy living space.
- Companionship: Offer meaningful social interaction, conversation, and emotional support.
- Medication admin: Ensure medication compliance, may require putting medication in client's mouth.
- Observant of Client Wellbeing: Notice and document subtle shifts in client health, mood, or behavior; take immediate, appropriate action according to protocol.
- Independent Task Management: Maximize downtime during shifts by voluntarily tackling organizing, deep-cleaning, or client-engagement tasks.
- Environmental Ownership: Maintain a safe, clean, and organized living environment. Identify and resolve safety hazards, clutter, or cleanliness issues immediately without prompting.
