Job Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and dedicated Medical Billing Specialist to join our healthcare administration team. The ideal candidate will possess a comprehensive understanding of medical billing processes, coding systems, and insurance claim procedures. As a Medical Billing Specialist, you will be responsible for accurately processing claims, managing accounts receivable, and ensuring compliance with healthcare regulations. Responsibilities
- Prepare and submit accurate insurance claims using appropriate coding systems such as CPT (Current Procedural Terminology), ICD-9, ICD-10, and DRG (Diagnosis-Related Group) classifications.
- Review medical records and documentation to ensure proper coding and billing accuracy.
- Follow up on unpaid or denied claims through effective collection strategies and communication with insurance providers.
- Maintain detailed records of billing activities within Electronic Medical Record (EMR) and Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems.
- Verify patient insurance information and explain billing procedures to patients when necessary.
- Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations, including HIPAA privacy standards and billing guidelines.
- Collaborate with medical staff to clarify documentation requirements and resolve billing discrepancies promptly.
Requirements
- Proven experience in medical billing, coding, or revenue cycle management within a healthcare setting.
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, medical records management, and coding systems such as CPT, ICD-9, ICD-10, ICD coding, and DRG classifications.
- Familiarity with EMR and EHR systems used for managing patient data and billing processes.
- Experience in medical collection practices and handling accounts receivable efficiently.
- Excellent attention to detail with the ability to interpret complex medical documentation accurately.
- Knowledge of healthcare regulations related to billing practices and patient confidentiality standards.
