Genesis Behavioral Hospital is a healthcare system providing inpatient and outpatient services. Our outpatient facility in Lafayette is looking for a full-time Mental Health Technician/Driver. The Mental Health Technician (MHT) supports the social services staff in maintaining a therapeutic milieu by performing routinely assigned tasks and carrying out patient care activities within the scope of the MHT's training and experience. This position is occasionally exposed to combative patients and to blood pathogens, body fluids, and infectious diseases.

Responsibilities and Duties
The Mental Health Technician is responsible for but not limited to the following:
- Continually monitors and enforces compliance with rules.
- Effectively applies supportive behavior when assisting in the control of patients who exhibit unacceptable behavior
- Communicates follow-up on patient care responsibilities; incomplete assignments, ongoing activities, and current patient needs to relevant staff to assure continuity of care.
- Demonstrates a positive attitude, professional boundaries, and accountability in all professional contacts.
- Maintains patient confidentiality, respects patient rights, and treats patients with dignity.
- Provides assistance to patients with their activities of daily living as necessary.
- Provides assistance with cleaning and upkeep of facility and grounds.
- Provides transportation of patients to and from the outpatient program, etc.
Qualifications and Skills
SPECIFIC EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS: High School diploma or GED mandatory.
SPECIAL SKILL AND KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS: CPR and CPI certifications are provided on-site.
SPECIAL LICENSE REQUIREMENTS:
- Must have a current and valid driver's license.
- Must be licensed for at least 4 years
- Must be 21 years of age or older.
