Job Requirements
Experience:
· High School Diploma or Equivalent required BS / BA College Degree preferred.
· 3 to 5+ Years of Transportation Industry experience preferred. (Expedited, Heavy Haul, Permit, etc)
· 1+ years relevant freight forwarder experience preferred (export/import)
· Knowledge of Curtain side flat, Step Deck & Double Drops, Open Flat, Step Deck & Double Drop, Over Dimensional Service, International Project Cargo OD Door-to-Door, Canadian & Mexican Coverage, Cargo Vans, Sprinters & Straight Trucks etc...
· Hazardous Materials certification and knowledge is a plus but not required.
· 3 to 5+ Years’ experience with Transportation Management Systems. (TMS)
· Acquire Basic Transportation Broker Certificate within 6 months of employment.
· TIA Certified Transportation Broker certification preferred.
· Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills.
· Be able to effectively communicate in both a verbal and written fashion.
· Proficiency required in the use of Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.
Freight Broker:
Responsibilities:
· Perform duties in a way that promotes the companies Mission, Vision, and Values.
· Accept loads from customers and properly match equipment to these loads in order to provide the right blend of cost-effective, on-time service.
· Utilize the company’s dispatch system to enter and maintain customer orders.
· Complete all necessary load information for driver's pay and customer billing.
· Contact carriers to follow up on proof of deliveries and other required paperwork.
· Handle all aspects of customer service for loads from “cradle to grave”.
· Set pickup and delivery appointments to comply with the customers’ needs.
· Plan the maximum use of key carriers within our network.
· Develop additional carriers to supplement new business and our current customer needs.
· Manage the status of loads to ensure that all customer delivery needs are met.
· Communicate effectively with other staff to ensure that all loads get covered.
· Handle loads within established timeframes to ensure that Profits targets are met.
· Maintain positive Customer Relationships using multiple-media formats.
· Review daily sales and brokerage reports to ensure their accuracy.
· Work within a team and produce successful completion of all assigned duties.
· Respond to pricing inquiries and refer leads to the sales Division.
· Ability to develop and manage a carrier base.
· Experience Carrier Procurement within Transportation Brokerage operation.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $15.00 - $19.00 per hour
