Job Summary:
The Electronics Bench Technician is responsible for the assembly, testing, troubleshooting, and repair of electronic medical devices in accordance with ISO 13485 quality standards. This role ensures that all products are built and verified to meet established specifications, regulatory requirements, and company quality objectives.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Responsible to comply with Good Documentation Practices.
- Responsible to comply with all guidelines, procedures, and work instructions of the company as mandated by ISO13485 Regulations and other related regulatory requirements.
- Responsible to participate in programs to support business goals of improving customer satisfaction, and to follow all company guidelines, rules, and regulations.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Utilize calibrated tools and equipment, including voltmeters, oscilloscopes, microscopes, soldering irons, and other manufacturing tools, in accordance with established procedures and ESD controls.
- Perform electronic testing and verification of PCB assemblies using appropriate test equipment (e.g., voltmeters, oscilloscopes) following approved test methods and specifications
- Execute soldering of electronic components, terminals, and connectors on printed circuit boards (PCBs) for production and engineering prototype builds, in compliance with applicable workmanship standards
- Perform electronic assembly of medical devices following Device Master Records (DMR), work instructions, and schematics
- Conduct functional testing, calibration, and verification of assembled units
- Identify and report nonconformances; support corrective and preventive actions (CAPA)
- Perform rework and repair of nonconforming materials and devices in accordance with approved procedures, ensuring proper documentation and traceability
- Evaluate, troubleshoot, and repair returned or service products following defined service and repair procedures
- Troubleshoot and repair electronic assemblies down to the component level
- Interpret schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical drawings
- Ensure compliance with ISO 13485, FDA regulations, and internal quality procedures
- Accurately complete production and quality documentation (DHR, test records, logs)
- Maintain proper handling of ESD-sensitive components and follow safety procedures
- Support incoming inspection, in-process inspection, and final inspection as needed
- Assist Engineering and Quality teams with product improvements and failure analysis
- Maintain a clean and organized workbench in accordance with 5S and GMP practices
Skill Requirements & Abilities:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required.
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent and a minimum of 24 months experience working in electronics activities.
- Component-level troubleshooting and soldering (through-hole and SMT preferred)
- Knowledge of ISO 13485, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), and quality systems
- Understanding of electronic circuits and PCB assemblies
- Basic computer skills for ERP/MRP systems and production tracking
- Good communication and teamwork skills
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to sit or stand for extended periods at a workbench
- Manual dexterity for handling small electronic components
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs occasionally
- Visual acuity for inspection of small parts and assemblies
Other Responsibilities:
- Aid and train other team members as needed
- Help with moving boxes/equipment/materials (if needed)
- Must be a team player
- Must have good morals and working ethics
