Our team at Paramount Family Optometry is hiring. We are seeking a customer-service/team oriented, organized, motivated, and trustworthy Optometric Technician. This job is for FULL TIME hours (35-40) per week, including Saturdays (8:00-2:00pm).
Job Responsibilities and Duties
- Cross training in all areas of the business.
- Pretesting patients daily. Visual acuity, autorefractor, eye pressure
- Take scans of patient retina (EIDON camera)
- Administer drops for dilation patients and assist the Optometrist as needed
- Train patients with contact lenses (insertion/removal/proper care)
- Front Office: manage patient schedule by confirming appointments
- Verify insurance (VSP, Eyemed, Spectera, Davis, Medi-caid etc)
- Answer phones/text messages, schedule and reschedule appointments
- Provide excellent customer service
- Work collaboratively with team members and problem solve through situations
- Handle cash and payment transactions responsibly
- Prepare patient files for the next day including general filing duties
- Sales: process glasses and contact lens orders
- Handle receiving and dispensing of glasses and contact lenses
- Assist customers in selecting eyeglasses and take accurate measurements such as seg height and pupillary distance
- Knowledge of basic lens materials is preferred.
- Adjust and repair eyewear
- Maintain the cleanliness of the office (light cleaning duties) and personal work space
Experience and Skills
- Previous experience in sales in an optometry practice is preferred
- ABO certification is a plus but not mandatory
- Proficiency in using electronic health record (EHR) systems, such as Crystal Management, for managing patient records
- Ability to multi-task and stay organized
- Attention to detail and task oriented
- Familiarity with HIPAA regulations and patient privacy practices
- Bilingual/Fluent in Spanish

Closed for lunch 12:00-1:00 pm daily
