Position Overview
Drug Crafters is looking for a skilled and detail-focused Non-Sterile Compounding Pharmacy Technician to support our compounding operations. This role is responsible for preparing personalized non-sterile medications while following prescription requirements, pharmacy procedures, USP standards, and applicable regulatory guidelines.
The successful candidate will have previous compounding experience, knowledge of USP <795> and USP <800> requirements, and experience handling hazardous medications safely. This position is essential to maintaining product quality, patient safety, operational effectiveness, and regulatory compliance.
Key Responsibilities
- Compound non-sterile medications, including capsules, creams, suspensions, troches, and other customized dosage forms.
- Accurately measure, weigh, mix, package, and label preparations according to approved formulations and prescription specifications.
- Handle hazardous substances in accordance with USP <800> guidelines, including proper PPE usage, containment practices, and cleaning procedures.
- Maintain thorough and accurate compounding documentation, logs, and batch records.
- Complete calculations required for ingredient measurements and formulation preparation.
- Assist with inventory activities, including receiving shipments, stocking materials, and monitoring expiration dates.
- Clean and maintain compounding areas and equipment in accordance with established protocols.
- Support quality control and quality assurance processes, including formula verification, documentation review, and beyond-use dating procedures.
- Comply with all federal and state pharmacy regulations, USP requirements, and internal policies.
- Work closely with pharmacists and fellow team members to ensure timely and accurate prescription fulfillment.
- Participate in required training, continuing education, and competency evaluations related to compounding practices and regulatory standards.
Required Qualifications
- Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT).
- Active Texas Pharmacy Technician registration in good standing.
- At least 2 years of pharmacy technician experience, preferably within a compounding pharmacy setting.
- Experience working with hazardous medications under USP <800> requirements.
- Working knowledge of USP <795> standards for non-sterile compounding.
- Excellent attention to detail with a strong commitment to patient safety and quality.
- Ability to perform pharmacy-related calculations accurately.
- Strong organizational, prioritization, and time-management skills.
- Ability to thrive in a production-focused, fast-moving environment.
- Ability to lift up to 30 pounds and remain standing for extended periods as needed.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in a 503A non-sterile compounding pharmacy.
- Familiarity with pharmacy management systems and compounding software.
- Understanding of quality assurance processes and regulatory inspection readiness.
- Experience preparing hormone, peptide, dermatology, or weight-management compounds.
