PURCHASER
Town and Gardens, Ltd. is seeking a detail-oriented, knowledgeable, and proactive Purchaser to join our team, working with our Designers, Account Managers, and Project Managers to procure the highest-quality materials for our projects. This role is the backbone of our operational excellence—ensuring that the plants, hardscape elements, and technical materials we source bring our creative visions to life in New York City’s most prestigious outdoor spaces. From sourcing specimen plants to navigating supplier pricing and relationships, you will safeguard our project standards and manage the vital resources that keep our field crews moving forward.
Your Impact (Key Responsibilities)
- Strategic Material Sourcing: Source and supply premium plant material, irrigation components, and building supplies for landscape installations and seasonal displays across our service area
- Supplier Relationship Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with wholesale nurseries and vendors. You will be a steward of the firm's resources, securing the best available materials at optimal costs.
- Cross-Department Collaboration: Partner closely with Designers, Account Managers, and Project Managers to understand upcoming project scopes, timelines, and material specifications.
- Inventory & Resource Control: Receive, inspect, inventory, and care for incoming materials at our warehouse, ensuring everything is organized and maintained in peak condition until job commencement.
- Lead Facility Support: Manage and direct the support staff responsible for the daily care, watering, and organization of plants, fertilizers, and related materials staged at our facility.
- Logistics & Data Integrity: Use industry-specific landscape software and Microsoft Excel to track orders, manage lead times, and maintain accurate records of purchases and material costs.
What You Bring (Qualifications)
- Horticultural Expertise: Proficiency in plant identification and health, backed by a Horticulture degree, nursery experience, or equivalent field experience.
- Construction & Trade Literacy: Knowledge of landscape construction materials, techniques, and procurement processes.
- Vendor & Regional Knowledge: Familiarity with the Tri-State area’s wholesale nurseries, stone yards, and trade suppliers.
- Organizational Agility: A self-starter mindset with exceptional time-management skills, high attention to detail, and the ability to juggle multiple tight deadlines.
- Communication & Tech Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Sharepoint and landscape management software.
Pay: $60,000.00 - $90,000.00 per year
