Job Summary
The Surface water/Wastewater Operator is responsible for overseeing the operation and maintenance of the water and wastewater treatment facilities. This role involves ensuring compliance with environmental regulations, monitoring equipment performance, and performing necessary repairs to maintain efficient operations. The ideal candidate will possess a strong mechanical background and have experience with various control systems and heavy equipment. Must have a TCEQ issued B Wastewater and B Surface water licenses
Duties
- Operate and monitor wastewater treatment processes to ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
- Perform routine maintenance and repair on treatment equipment, including pumps, valves, and motors.
- Utilize programmable logic controllers (PLCs) and distributed control systems (DCS) for process management.
- Conduct data collection and analysis to optimize treatment processes and troubleshoot issues.
- Operate heavy equipment as needed for construction or maintenance tasks within the facility.
- Perform heavy lifting and physical labor as required for equipment installation and repairs.
- Maintain accurate records of operations, maintenance activities, and compliance data.
- Collaborate with team members to ensure a safe working environment.
- Perform other duties as assigned
Skills
- Strong mechanical knowledge with experience in equipment repair and maintenance.
- Familiarity with water treatment processes, including wastewater treatment techniques.
- Ability to operate heavy equipment safely and effectively.
- Basic math skills for calculations related to water quality analysis and chemical dosing.
- Strong analytical skills to assess operational data and identify areas for improvement.
- Experience in plumbing tasks related to water and wastewater systems.
- Capability to perform heavy lifting as part of routine job duties.
- Knowledge of construction practices relevant to facility upgrades or repairs. This position requires a dedicated individual who is committed to maintaining high standards of water quality while ensuring the safety of the community.

Pay: From $24.00 per hour
Expected hours: No less than 40.0 per week

- Surface water/waste water plant : 5 years (Preferred)
License/Certification:
- TCEQ Surface Water/ Waste Water A or B License (Preferred)
