Duties
- Safely operate school buses, transit buses, or paratransit vehicles in accordance with traffic laws and transportation safety regulations.
- Transport students to designated destinations while ensuring passenger safety at all times.
- Maintain discipline and manage passenger behavior to promote a safe and respectful environment onboard.
- Conduct vehicle inspections before each trip to ensure mechanical safety, report any issues promptly, and perform basic vehicle maintenance knowledge as needed.
- Respond quickly to traffic changes or route adjustments, communicating effectively with dispatch or supervisors to ensure timely arrivals.
Qualifications
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record; commercial driver’s license (CDL).
- Proven experience in bus driving, school bus operation, or transit vehicle operation.
- Knowledge of traffic laws, vehicle codes, and transportation safety regulations at the state and local levels.
- Ability to communicate clearly in English; bilingual skills are a plus for serving diverse communities.
- Strong communication skills, quick response to traffic changes, and a customer service-oriented mindset are essential for success in this role.
