Duties
- Operate the point-of-sale (POS) system accurately to process cash, credit, and mobile payments
- Assist customers with product inquiries, product demos, and upselling opportunities to enhance their shopping experience
- Maintain clean and organized checkout areas, ensuring merchandise is well-stocked and properly merchandised
- Handle cash transactions with precision, including cash handling and balancing registers at shift end
- Provide exceptional customer service by greeting shoppers warmly, answering questions, and addressing concerns professionally
- Support inventory management through stocking shelves, conducting product demos, and merchandising displays
- Demonstrate phone etiquette when assisting customers over the phone or via online inquiries
Skills
- Proficiency with POS systems and cash handling procedures
- Supervising experience or leadership skills in retail environments preferred
- Ability to perform retail math accurately for transactions and inventory counts
- Strong communication skills in bilingual settings to serve diverse customer bases effectively
- Experience with grocery store operations or retail sales environments is a plus
- Knowledge of merchandising techniques and stock management practices
- Excellent customer service skills, including active listening and problem-solving abilities
- Ability to perform basic math quickly and accurately for daily tasks such as balancing registers and calculating discounts
