Overview
Solace Clinic is seeking a Substance Use Disorder (SUD) Trainer to join our outpatient clinic in Kent, WA. The SUD Group Facilitator is responsible for delivering engaging, recovery-oriented psychoeducational and skills-based group sessions that support clients in achieving their treatment and recovery goals. This position works collaboratively with the clinical team to reinforce evidence-based practices, promote client engagement, and foster a safe, respectful, and trauma-informed environment. The trainer documents client participation supports treatment objectives through structured group programming, and contributes to the overall quality of care provided within the outpatient substance use disorder program.
Position Summary
The Substance Use Disorder (SUD) Trainer provides psychoeducational and recovery-focused group services for individuals receiving outpatient substance use disorder treatment. Working under the direction of the Clinical Director or designated licensed clinician, this position facilitates structured educational groups that reinforce recovery skills, relapse prevention, healthy coping strategies, and wellness.
Essential Responsibilities
- Facilitate structured psychoeducational, recovery support, and life skills groups in accordance with agency curriculum and treatment objectives.
- Lead discussions on topics including relapse prevention, coping skills, emotional wellness, communication, healthy relationships, recovery planning, and substance use education.
- Foster a safe, respectful, trauma-informed, and recovery-oriented group environment that encourages client participation and engagement.
- Document group attendance, participation, progress notes, and other required clinical documentation in the electronic health record (EHR) in a timely manner.
- Assist with client intake processes, including collecting required forms, releases of information, and administrative documentation.
- Maintain accurate and complete client records in accordance with Washington State regulations, HIPAA, 42 CFR Part 2, Medicaid requirements, and agency policies.
- Monitor documentation deadlines and assist with maintaining complete client charts.
- Coordinate appointments, group schedules, and client follow-up communications as assigned.
- Assist SUDPs with treatment planning support, case coordination, referrals, and discharge documentation under appropriate supervision.
- Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings, case staffing, and clinical consultation.
- Communicate client concerns, changes in functioning, or safety issues promptly to supervising clinicians.
- Provide clients with educational materials, community resources, and referrals to support ongoing recovery.
- Support quality improvement initiatives by assisting with chart audits, data collection, and documentation compliance activities.
- Maintain group curriculum materials, educational resources, and program supplies.
- Perform general administrative duties including answering phones, scheduling appointments, scanning and uploading documents, filing records, and assisting with front office operations as needed.
- Maintain professional boundaries, uphold ethical standards, and participate in required supervision, training, and continuing education.
Qualifications Required
- High school diploma or equivalent (Associate's or Bachelor's degree preferred).
Preferred
- Washington State SUDPT, SUDP, Peer Counselor, or other behavioral health credential.
- Experience facilitating psychoeducational, recovery support, or life skills groups.
- Knowledge of Motivational Interviewing, Harm Reduction, Trauma-Informed Care, and Recovery-Oriented Systems of Care.
- Bilingual candidates are encouraged to apply.
- Experience working with individuals affected by substance use disorders, behavioral health conditions, or related human services.
- Strong group facilitation and public speaking skills.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational abilities.
- Ability to establish rapport with diverse populations while maintaining professional boundaries.

Pay: $23.00 - $30.00 per hour
