Sushi Restaurant Server – Job Description

Department: Front of House (FOH)
Job Summary
The Server is responsible for providing friendly, professional, and efficient service to guests while maintaining a clean and organized dining environment. Servers should have a good understanding of sushi, Japanese cuisine, and restaurant service standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Greet guests promptly and provide friendly, professional service.
- Explain menu items and answer questions about sushi, sashimi, ramen, appetizers, and beverages.
- Take accurate food and drink orders and enter them correctly into the POS system.
- Check on tables regularly and respond quickly to guest needs.
- Pre-bus tables by removing finished plates, bowls, glasses, and other unnecessary items throughout the meal.
- Communicate clearly with sushi chefs, kitchen staff, runners, bussers, and managers.
- Make sure food is delivered to the correct table and guest.
- Monitor food quality and order accuracy before and after delivery.
- Refill water and beverages as needed.
- Prepare and maintain side work, including napkins, sauces, utensils, takeout supplies, and service stations.
- Keep tables, chairs, booths, and service areas clean, dry, and organized.
- Process guest payments accurately.
- Follow food safety, sanitation, alcohol service, and restaurant policies.
- Assist other team members during busy periods.
- Complete assigned opening, running, and closing duties before clocking out.
Requirements
- Previous restaurant serving experience preferred.
- Sushi/Japanese restaurant experience is a plus.
- Good knowledge of sushi and Japanese food, or willingness to learn.
- Strong communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to multitask and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Reliable, punctual, and team-oriented.
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods and carry plates/trays safely.
- Must follow restaurant dress code and service standards.

Servers are expected to provide attentive service, maintain table cleanliness, communicate effectively with the team, minimize order errors, and help create a positive dining experience for every guest.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $16.00 - $45.00 per hour
