The ideal candidate must have prior experience reading telecom scopes of work and performing outside plant and cabinet-level installation work at wireless communication sites.
The sites are scattered across Southern California.
This position requires field experience with handholes/manholes, conduit pathways, rod and rope, MaxCell, trenching, Y-intercepts, telecom cabinets, DC power plants, fiber routing, and grounding.
Required Experience
Candidates MUST HAVE past experience performing the following types of work:
Outside Plant / Civil Fiber Work
- Read and understand telecom scope-of-work documents, site survey packages, and fiber feasibility reports.
- Install fiber handholes, manholes, and underground telecom pathway components.
- Perform rod and rope work in existing conduit systems.
- Install MaxCell fabric innerduct/sleeves inside existing conduit pathways.
- Perform trenching, conduit stub-outs, and pathway extensions.
- Understand and perform Y-intercepts into existing underground conduit/pathway systems.
- Coordinate field work around property lines, right-of-way areas, handholes, and existing underground conduits.
- Maintain clean, safe, and organized work areas.
Telecom Cabinet / Equipment Installation
- Install new telecom equipment inside existing telecom cabinets and equipment racks.
- Remove or relocate old equipment when required and authorized.
- Understand basic telecom rack layout, cable routing, labeling, and equipment placement.
- Install and route single-mode fiber jumpers, including LC/LC fiber where required.
- Understand DC power plants, FAP/fuse panels, A-feed and B-feed power leads, GMT fuses, and basic telecom power practices.
- Install and label DC power leads.
- Install frame grounds and bond equipment using proper grounding practices.
- Follow closeout documentation requirements, including photos, redlines, labels, and field notes.
Preferred Skills
- Prior Verizon Wireless, T-Mobile, AT&T, or carrier-site experience.
- Experience working inside live telecom cabinets or wireless compound environments.
- Familiarity with fiber demarcation equipment, telco racks, IXR/router handoffs, FAP panels, and power plants.
- Ability to coordinate with project managers, field engineers, landlords, utility providers, and carrier representatives.
- Ability to work independently and safely in the field.
- Strong communication and documentation skills.
Requirements
- Must have prior telecom outside plant or carrier-site installation experience.
- Must be able to read and follow construction drawings, scopes of work, and site-specific instructions.
- Must be reliable, safety-conscious, and detail-oriented.
- Must be able to travel to field sites as needed.
- Valid driver’s license required.
- Ability to pass customer/site access requirements where applicable.
Compensation
Compensation will be based on the candidate’s experience, technical skill level, and ability to independently perform the required scope of work.
