The Assistant General Manager (AGM) supports the General Manager in overseeing the daily operations of the hotel while ensuring exceptional guest service, operational efficiency, brand compliance, and financial performance. The AGM serves as a leader for hotel staff, helps maintain IHG brand standards, and assists in driving guest satisfaction and revenue growth.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist the General Manager with the daily operation of the hotel
- Lead and supervise front desk, housekeeping, breakfast, and maintenance teams
- Ensure outstanding guest service and resolve guest concerns professionally and efficiently
- Maintain compliance with IHG and franchise brand standards
- Monitor hotel cleanliness, safety, and operational procedures
- Assist with hiring, onboarding, training, coaching, and scheduling team members
- Support revenue management efforts, occupancy goals, and labor controls
- Review daily reports, guest feedback, and operational metrics
- Handle cash management, deposits, inventory, and purchasing procedures
- Ensure proper operation of hotel systems including PMS, reservations, and reporting software
- Conduct property walkthroughs to maintain quality assurance standards
- Assist during audits, inspections, and corporate reviews
- Serve as Manager on Duty as needed, including evenings, weekends, and holidays
- Step into the General Manager role during absences
Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years hotel supervisory or management experience preferred
- Previous experience with IHG or franchise hotel operations strongly preferred
- Strong leadership and communication skills
- Excellent customer service and problem-solving abilities
- Knowledge of hotel property management systems and Microsoft Office
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced hospitality environment
- Flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays
- High school diploma or equivalent required; hospitality degree preferred
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods
- Ability to lift up to 25 pounds occasionally
- Ability to respond quickly to operational needs throughout the property
