Duties
- Provide individual and group counseling sessions focused on academic advising, behavioral health, and emotional well-being to support students’ personal growth.
- Develop and implement strategies for behavior management and conflict resolution to create a safe and respectful school climate.
- Assist students in navigating social challenges, cultural diversity issues, and mental health concerns through culturally sensitive counseling approaches.
- Conduct assessments using standardized testing tools to identify student needs and tailor intervention plans accordingly.
- Collaborate with teachers and parents to develop personalized plans addressing academic challenges, behavioral issues, or social-emotional needs.
- Maintain detailed records of counseling sessions, behavioral incidents, and progress reports in compliance with child protective services regulations.
- Stay informed about childhood development trends, behavioral health practices, and child welfare policies to enhance counseling effectiveness.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in School Counseling, Social Work, Psychology, or related field; Master’s degree preferred.
- Valid state certification or licensure as a school counselor or mental health professional.
- Proven experience working with children and adolescents in educational or clinical settings.
- Strong communication skills to effectively engage with students, parents, teachers, and community partners.
- Knowledge of behavioral management techniques and conflict management strategies.
- Familiarity with special education procedures and accommodations for diverse learning needs.
