Program Director – Respiratory Therapy
Location: Fort Mill, SC

Position Summary
A technical school in Fort Mill, SC is seeking a qualified and experienced Program Director for the Respiratory Therapy Program. The Program Director is responsible for the overall leadership, administration, and continuous improvement of the Respiratory Therapy Program. This position ensures compliance with institutional, state, federal, and programmatic accreditation standards while fostering student success, faculty development, and academic excellence.
The ideal candidate is an experienced Registered Respiratory Therapist with strong leadership, instructional, and organizational skills who is committed to maintaining a high-quality educational program.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide leadership and supervision for the Respiratory Therapy Program, including recruiting, hiring, mentoring, evaluating, and, when necessary, recommending the termination of assigned faculty.
- Ensure program compliance with all applicable requirements of the Accrediting Commission of Career Schools and Colleges (ACCSC), the Pennsylvania Department of Education (PDE), the U.S. Department of Education (USDE), and all applicable programmatic accrediting agencies.
- Assist in the development and management of the annual program budget, including reviewing and approving departmental requisitions.
- Interview prospective students for program admission in accordance with institutional policies and procedures.
- Teach assigned classroom, laboratory, and/or clinical courses while maintaining effective classroom management and instructional excellence.
- Utilize the institution's Learning Management System (Canvas) for attendance, grading, communication, and course documentation.
- Develop, review, and revise curriculum, including course syllabi, outlines, lesson plans, instructional materials, and student evaluation instruments.
- Monitor student academic progress and ensure faculty maintain accurate advising records, documentation, and progress reports.
- Maintain current professional licensure, certifications, and continuing education required by institutional and accrediting agencies.
- Coordinate Program Advisory Committee (PAC) meetings and collaborate with institutional departments to support program effectiveness and continuous improvement.
- Participate in accreditation activities, faculty meetings, commencement ceremonies, and other scheduled institutional events.
- Perform additional duties and special projects as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Applicants must meet at least two of the following qualifications, in addition to all credentialing requirements established by applicable programmatic accrediting agencies:
- Minimum of three (3) years of professional experience in Respiratory Therapy (five years preferred).
- Minimum of two (2) years of teaching experience in Respiratory Therapy or a related healthcare education program.
- Current Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential.
- Active SC Respiratory Therapist License.
Education
- Master's Degree preferred (or as required by applicable accrediting agencies).
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience as a Program Director, Clinical Director, or Academic Coordinator.
- Knowledge of ACCSC, PDE, USDE, and programmatic accreditation standards.
- Experience with curriculum development, assessment planning, and outcomes reporting.
- Experience using Canvas or a comparable Learning Management System.
- Excellent leadership, communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
