Retail – Grocery Lead Clerk
Pay: Commensurate with experience
Job Summary: The Grocery Lead Clerk supports the Store Manager in the day-to-day operation of the grocery department. This position helps lead and ensures shelves are properly stocked and presented, maintains product quality and rotation, assists customers, and helps ensure the department is clean, organized, and ready for business.
The Grocery Lead Clerk is expected to be a working leader who leads by example and helps maintain efficient operations during assigned shifts.
Key Responsibilities
· Oversees cashiers and register systems
· Assist the Store Manager with the daily operation of the grocery department.
· Ensure grocery shelves, displays, and endcaps are fully stocked, faced, organized, and properly signed.
· Monitor inventory levels and communicate out-of-stocks and replenishment needs to management.
· Rotate products using FIFO (First In, First Out) procedures and remove damaged, expired, or unsaleable merchandise.
· Assist with receiving, stocking, organizing, and putting away deliveries and backstock.
· Maintain organized backrooms, coolers, storage areas, and aisles.
· Help execute department displays, promotions, seasonal changes, and merchandising plans.
· Assign tasks and help prioritize work based on customer traffic and business needs.
Qualifications
· High school diploma or GED
· Prior experience in grocery, retail, stocking, or customer service experience preferred
· Previous leadership or supervisory experience is preferred but not required.
· Strong organizational and time-management skills.
· Ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
· Good communication and customer service skills.
· Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
· Dependable attendance and reliable transportation.
· Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays

· Ability to recognize out-of-stocks, damaged products, expired merchandise and presentation issues

Working Hours:
Early morning, day, evenings, weekends.

· Ability to stand, bend, reach, and work for extended periods during shifts
· Frequent lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling of food products and supplies, typically up to 50 pounds
· Push and pull carts, and other material handling equipment
· Work in various temperatures, including refrigerated or freezer areas when required
· Perform repetitive stocking, facing, lifting and merchandising activities
· Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with varying temperatures and noise levels
Pay: From $18.00 per hour
