Redemption Bank is a growing community bank focused on commercial, government-guaranteed, equipment finance, and specialty lending solutions. As we continue expanding our lending platform, we are seeking a Chief Credit Officer to help drive disciplined growth while maintaining exceptional credit quality.
This position offers a unique opportunity to partner directly with CEO Jan Ackley, an accomplished banker with extensive lending and credit experience. The successful candidate will play a key role in underwriting, portfolio management, credit administration, and strategic loan decision-making while helping develop the next chapter of Redemption Bank's lending operations.
We are looking for a strong credit professional with proven underwriting expertise, sound judgment, and demonstrated leadership potential. Prior Chief Credit Officer experience is welcome but not required.
What You'll Do
- Lead the Bank's credit administration and underwriting functions.
- Review, structure, and approve commercial credit opportunities.
- Maintain a high-quality loan portfolio through sound risk management and ongoing portfolio monitoring.
- Partner closely with lending officers to evaluate complex transactions and develop creative financing solutions.
- Provide guidance and mentorship to underwriters, portfolio managers, and lending staff.
- Participate in Credit Committee discussions and present recommendations to executive leadership and the Board.
- Assist in developing and refining credit policies, procedures, and underwriting standards.
- Monitor concentrations, risk trends, and portfolio performance.
- Support regulatory examinations, loan reviews, audits, and risk management initiatives.
- Contribute to new product development, including commercial credit card and specialty lending programs.
- Serve as a trusted advisor to executive leadership on portfolio strategy, credit quality, and growth opportunities.
What We're Looking For
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of commercial credit, underwriting, portfolio management, or lending experience.
- Strong credit analysis and underwriting capabilities.
- Experience evaluating business financial statements, cash flows, collateral, guarantor strength, and repayment capacity.
- Proven ability to make sound credit decisions and communicate recommendations clearly.
- Experience managing loan portfolios and identifying emerging credit risk.
- Demonstrated leadership skills and the ability to influence teams and stakeholders.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in:
- Equipment Finance
- Leasing
- SBA Lending
- USDA Lending
- Government-Guaranteed Lending Programs
- Mid-Ticket Commercial Lending
- Experience with commercial credit cards or other credit products.
- Familiarity with community bank regulatory expectations.
- Experience leading underwriters, credit analysts, or lending personnel.
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, Accounting, Economics, Business, or a related discipline.
