Overview
We are seeking a passionate and dynamic Upper School General Science & Biology Teacher to inspire and educate students in grades 7 through 9 in a Hillsdale K-12 Public Charter School. This role offers an exciting opportunity to foster curiosity about the natural world, and develop critical thinking skills.. The ideal candidate will bring a blend of subject expertise, engaging teaching methods, and a commitment to student success within a Classical School environment.
Responsibilities
- Design and deliver comprehensive, hands-on lessons in general middle school science and high school biology.
- Develop and implement engaging instructional strategies that accommodate various learning styles and cultural backgrounds.
- Conduct laboratory experiments, dissections, and research activities to deepen understanding of cell biology, genetics, microbiology, biochemistry, and other scientific disciplines.
- Assess student progress through formative and summative evaluations, including standardized testing preparation and individualized academic advising.
- Manage classroom environments effectively by applying classroom management techniques, behavior management strategies, and fostering a positive learning atmosphere.
- Collaborate with colleagues.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in a science or science education or related field; advanced degrees preferred.
- Proven experience teaching high school science courses with a focus on biology; middle school teaching experience across the physical science and earth sciences is a plus.
- Strong knowledge of scientific concepts including deep knowledge of biology.
- Demonstrated ability to develop curriculum aligned with educational standards while incorporating engaging instructional practices.
- Experience working with students from diverse cultural backgrounds and adapting lessons to various learning styles.
- Excellent communication skills for effective collaboration with colleagues and mentoring students.
- Strong classroom management skills combined with the ability to foster an inclusive environment conducive to active learning.
- Knowledge of educational compliance regulations related to science instruction and laboratory safety protocols.
Pay: $50,252.00 - $72,827.00 per year
