Job Summary
Under the guidance of BronxConnect’s Workforce and Re-entry Director, Case Managers are vital in delivering comprehensive case management services to individuals transitioning from institutional mandates. As counselors and mentors, they leverage their expertise in the criminal justice system to assist participants in securing employment and accessing essential services, such as housing, training, and substance abuse treatment. Beyond addressing factors to prevent recidivism, Case Managers are tasked with maintaining accurate client records, updating monthly reports and case notes in the BronxConnect database, monitoring participant referrals, and fostering collaborative community relationships to secure valuable resources for participants.
Responsibilities:
- Manage a caseload of at least 25-75 participants annually.
- Conduct intake interviews with potential participants in custody and the community.
- Develop and monitor strategic plans and goals of participants in the community.
- Meet weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly with participants for advocacy, retention, monitoring referrals, and counseling services.
- Prepare and assist participants with developing and securing job attainment skills.
- Assist participants with resume development, employment applications and interview preparation.
- Review and assess employment information to determine clients’ career development opportunities.
- Ensure strong alliances in the community with agencies and organizations dedicated to employment readiness and housing assistance.
- Conducts research to understand industry and employment trends and skills needed by job seekers.
- Prepares written and oral reports as well as related documents as needed.
- Establish relationships with employers that will work with participants in training programs.
- Facilitate or co-facilitate therapeutic support groups.
- Facilitate or co-facilitate job readiness workshops
- Must perform data entries and maintain case records.
Requirements:
- BA/BS degree preferred.
- High School diploma or GED required.
- Experience as an Employment counselor/specialist preferred.
- Knowledge of the workforce, social service agencies, and community services.
- Knowledge of workforce regulatory standards and sector-based strategies.
- Strong written and verbal communication, interpersonal, and listening skills.
- Strong analytical, mediating, and negotiation skills.
- Excellent organizational and case management skills.
- Social Media Savvy.
- Computer proficiency required.
- Experience and sensitivity working with various cultures, individuals with justice- involvement backgrounds, and socioeconomic conditions.
- Must be willing to work some evenings as needed a few times per month and/or remotely when necessary.
- Bi-lingual in English/Spanish a plus.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $55,000.00 - $68,000.00 per year
