Duties
- Thoroughly wash dishes, utensils, cookware, and kitchen equipment to uphold cleanliness standards
- Assist with basic food preparation tasks such as slicing, chopping, and portioning ingredients using proper knife skills and slicing techniques
- Maintain a clean and organized work area, including counters, sinks, and storage spaces
- Support menu planning by preparing ingredients according to recipes and portion sizes
- Operate kitchen equipment safely and efficiently, including dishwashers, ovens, mixers, and food processors
- Follow strict food safety protocols for handling ingredients and maintaining hygiene standards in line with food safety management practices
- Collaborate with kitchen staff to ensure smooth meal preparation and timely service during busy hours
Skills
- Prior experience in dietary departments or as a dietary aide is highly desirable
- Strong background in food preparation, cooking, and food handling within the food industry or restaurant environments
- Knowledge of safety standards in production environments and proper use of kitchen equipment
- Excellent communication skills for effective coordination with kitchen staff and team members
- Familiarity with menu planning, recipe adherence, and catering experience is a plus
- Ability to demonstrate proper knife skills and slicing techniques for efficient ingredient prep
- Understanding of food safety regulations and food safety management practices to ensure compliance during all stages of meal prep and service
