Duties
- Assist clients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and mobility support
- Monitor patients’ health by observing for any changes in condition or behavior
- Support medication administration and help maintain accurate care plans in compliance with HIPAA regulations
- Prepare nutritious meals tailored to individual dietary needs and assist with meal consumption when necessary
- Operate medical equipment such as Hoyer lifts and ensure safe transfer techniques to prevent injury
- Maintain a clean and safe environment by performing light housekeeping tasks like cleaning patient areas and laundry
- Document patient progress, update care records, and communicate effectively with healthcare teams regarding patient status
Requirements
- Prior experience in home health, assisted living, nursing homes, or group homes is highly preferred
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations to ensure patient confidentiality and data security
- Ability to work with individuals with disabilities, autism spectrum disorder, or memory-related conditions such as dementia or Alzheimer’s disease
- Physical capability for heavy lifting and assisting with transfers using equipment like Hoyer lifts
- Strong observational skills for patient monitoring and recognizing signs of distress or emergency situations
- Excellent communication skills to collaborate with healthcare professionals, patients, and families effectively
